Dawei Liu was born in the year of 1945 in Zhucheng city, Shandong province. He graduated from art department of Inner Mogolia Normal University in 1968. 12 years later, he completed his postgraduate courses in the department of Chinese paintings of Central Academy of Fine Arts. He is the sitting professor and dean of art department in Academy of Arts of People's Liberation Army , the vice president of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the president of Chinese Artists Association, the president of International Association of Art affiliated to UNESCO and a member of the national committee of CPPCC.
